God Our Rock

We've been digging deep into the bible, unearthing many new and interesting discoveries behind the rocks, stones, and gems referenced throughout its landscape. It's shed new light and provided a fresh level of context and meaning behind many familiar verses and stories.   We hope you will join us on this unique and inspiring expedition.

God Our Rock

“The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. " ~Psalm 18: 2, NIV

One of our innate needs as human beings is the need for stability. We crave having a stable family unit; building a career and acquiring assets to establish that sound and solid foundation. But in the reality of life with its various challenges, setbacks, curveballs, and disappointments, we can be shaken from our place of security.   During those times, many people attempt to find safety and security through worldly avenues—but there is a better direction —God, Our Rock.

Why Is the Lord Referred to as The Rock?

  • He is our Father—our Source of Truth & Strength. Moses stated, “God is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just, a faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he” (Deuteronomy 32:4). He is the One you can always depend on, always consistent, always true. He transcends every other source of perceived stability—God, Our Rock.

  • He is our Shelter. The Rock represents a place of protection and refuge. In Psalm 27:5, David reflected on God’s goodness demonstrated in His protection and a place he could hide: “For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock.”  In Biblical days, David fought many wars and had many enemies; however,  the more he relied on God and ran to him for direction, the more victories he encountered. God was David’s safe place—His Rock, and He is ours, too—God, Our Rock.

  • He is our Foundation. Throughout the Bible, Christ is referred to as “The Rock”.  Jesus is the foundation upon which we stand. In Matthew 7, Jesus likened a wise man to someone who builds his house upon a rock so that when the winds and storms come (worldly issues/struggles) they could stand and overcome. In essence, we are encouraged to put our faith and confidence in Him— God, Our Rock.

  • He is our Provider. Our Provision comes from him as He is our source. In Numbers 20, Israel's children journeyed through the wilderness without water. In thirst, they cried out to Moses who prayed to God on behalf of the people. The Lord responded, “Take the staff, and you and your brother Aaron gather the assembly together. Speak to that rock before their eyes, and it will pour out its water. You will bring water out of the rock for the community so they and their livestock can drink.”~Numbers 20:8  Indeed through the rock, God performed a miracle to meet the people’s needs. The same is true today. God is our source for everything we need—God, Our Rock.

As you wear our natural stone jewelry today; remember that God is the rock of our salvation, a refuge from the storms of life and we can trust him—He’s the same yesterday, today, and forever—God, Our Rock.

I enjoyed reading this. I have quite a few of your bracelets and have gifted some as well. They remind me to keep Faith and now I’m very pleased that when I’m wearing them I will also be reminded that he is my Rock!
