“It is finished.” — John 19:30 

On the cross, Jesus says:
“It is finished.”

Nothing more is added.
Nothing more is required.

What was carried—
brought to completion.

Today, we don’t have to keep carrying
what has already been finished—
we can let it rest.

PRAYER 

Jesus,

Sometimes I keep things open
long after they are finished.

I keep carrying them.
I keep holding on.
I don’t quite let them be done.

But You show me something different.

You bring it to completion.

Help me to trust
what has already been finished.

Give me the courage
to let it be done—

to release
what I’ve been holding onto,

and to stop carrying
what is no longer mine to carry.

Amen
